Recently, we have occasionally heard some disabled people talk about being scammed by people pretending to be police officers or banks. In addition, our partners who are businesses that support employment for people with disabilities have also shared that many disabled people are being lured into investing money in online money-making platforms and virtual currencies. Therefore, if we do not know how to be careful, there is a possibility that many other disabled people will lose money due to scams. To prevent this situation, we have organized a training course on Using social networks safely and preventing online scams for people with disabilities. The first training course was held this morning for more than 20 representatives of the Independent Living Club and the Association of the Blind in Da Nang City. With the technical support of Mr. Tran Tuan Kiet, the students were provided with basic knowledge to recognize forms of fraud, how to prevent fraud from social networks and how to contact for support if they are scammed. In this class, the students were also instructed on how to install anti-fraud software on their phones. The technical instructions in the class also include specific notes to solve the difficulties in accessing information for the visually impaired, blind people and gender issues. Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Van, Vice President of the Association of the Blind in Da Nang City shared: “I find today's class very meaningful, helping us to supplement our knowledge and skills to prevent fraudulent behaviors. Fraud is becoming more and more sophisticated and professional, so not only now but also in the future, there needs to be more sharing courses like this so that we can update information and better prevent it for the visually impaired community”.
