Let's come closer to the blind in the community - At the suggestion of FPT Global Education, this morning we organized a session to share information about the blind for students from Singapore University of Technology. - The Singapore students shared: this was also the first time we met and talked with the blind. (The rate of blind people in Singapore is 3% of the total population). - Under the guidance of Ms. Chau, President of the Association of the Blind in Da Nang City, the students learned about the background of Braille, which the blind use and practiced. After experiencing it, they learned how to read and write Braille differently - reading is more difficult than writing, reading from left to right but writing must be from right to left. Extremely interesting. - Also in this workshop, the students were instructed on how to appropriately support the blind in moving around, eating and drinking; how to greet and give them things. There are very simple principles of support that if we pay attention and do, will help the blind feel respected, accessible and truly inclusive. ❤️ The Singaporean students shared: “Before, we were curious about how to write and use Braille. Now that we have experienced it, we understand how they write and read differently from us. Interacting with the blind makes us feel very happy and excited. This activity helps us understand more about the blind, sympathize more with those who are more disadvantaged than us, and know how to communicate and help them appropriately. This knowledge and skills help us feel more confident when approaching the blind. After this session, we want to participate in more volunteer activities and help the blind more.” ❤️ Thank you to the Da Nang City Association of the Blind for collaborating with us in this program.
